Rotary International

Rotary International is a worldwide network of people who build relationships and take action to improve lives. Through Rotary and Rotaract clubs, members bring local knowledge, professional skills and fellowship to service in their communities and around the world.

A global network, local action

Rotary clubs are community-based and member-led. They identify local needs, work with partners and draw on Rotary’s international connections to support lasting solutions. The Rotary Club of Shillong is part of Rotary District 3240.

Rotary’s areas of focus

Rotary’s service and grant work is organised around seven areas where members can make a meaningful difference:

• Promoting peace
• Fighting disease
• Providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene
• Saving mothers and children
• Supporting education
• Growing local economies
• Protecting the environment

These areas offer a shared framework; each club chooses projects in response to the needs and strengths of its community. Explore Rotary’s causes.

The Four-Way Test

Rotarians use this practical guide when considering what they think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
